PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Well, it’s only the hottest week of the year so that
can only mean one thing; it’s time for the 77th Annual
Meninak Ocean Swim. Our guest speaker on Monday was Maurice
Rudolph of the Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps who
has been around for about 26 some odd years with the VLC.
Which means he’s been around the Meninak Ocean Swim
that long. Maurice shared with us a video about a program
they are involved with called “Life Guards With Out
Borders”. Last January they went to Lima Peru to help
teach life saving techniques to the life- guards down there.
He shared with us several interesting stories, as well as
the importance of this program. Maurice also shared some
of the expectations they have for the men and women who
join the Red Cross Life Saving Corps here locally and how
they empower them with community service skills that will
stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Thanks to all who brought in guests. Walter Reed brought
in Brian Reed, and David Myers introduced his son and daughter
David and Elizabeth. We were glad to see you all. Please
keep bringing in those guests. Keep watching for a letter
about the Charity Program. And I just wanted to let you
all know; the new Patrons Program is really picking up some
steam and excitement thanks to all the young executives.
This year being the 77th year that Meninak has been sponsoring
the Ocean Swim, we are hoping that you all will find some
time this Saturday to come on out to the beach and enjoy
this traditional event, either to help or to just watch
and cheer on the swimmers who will swim in the 3.5 mile
course. Have a burger and a hot dog, come on... it’s
summer! We will have some shade and cool drinks, and after
handing out all the trophies and all the food has been eaten
then we will all have something to Feel Good about. You
got to love air conditioning. See, if you look for the positive
things in life, you WILL find them. See you at Mondays meeting.
