About Meninak

Since 1919, the Meninak Club of Jacksonville has fulfilled a unique role in the Jacksonville community. Meninak attracts outstanding citizens and leaders from the area’s top business, professional, military and civic organizations, and it has long been a catalyst for networking among community leaders, and it provides a forum to help shape the future of the Jacksonville and Northeast Florida community. Meninak’s mission of “lending help where none is available” inspires the organization’s commitment to the youth of our community and provides a focus for all our activities.

Meninak members are actively involved their community and often take leadership roles in many of the area's non-profit and civic improvement organizations. Meninak and its members have contributed millions of dollars and countless hours of service to the Jacksonville community.

Since 1934 Meninak has sponsored an Annual Charity Project each year. Members seek out area programs that are vital to meeting the needs of Northeast Florida’s young people. One program is selected to receive a grant of at least $30,000 to support the program’s capital improvement needs.

Since 1997 Meninak has awarded five $5000 Youth Leadership Grants each year. The grants are awarded to College bound seniors from area high schools that participate in Youth Leadership Jacksonville, a non-profit organization that specializes in training students in leadership and civic responsibility. Meninak selects recipients based upon leadership potential, character, academic achievement and financial need.

Meninak is actively involved in mentoring area youth. Meninak recognized the need for more mentor volunteers in our community and mentoring offers the opportunity for Meninaks to make individual service contributions to supplement the collective good work done with the Youth Leadership Grants and Annual Charity Project.

Since 1933 Meninak has sponsored the Ocean Marathon Swim, a 3.5 mile ocean swim competition for members of the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Savings Corps at Jacksonville Beach. The competition provides publicity for the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Savings Corps and allows Meninak and the community to show their appreciation for the organization.

In addition, Meninaks also volunteer for bell ringing at the Salvation Army kettles during the holidays and collect toys for disadvantaged youth during its Holiday Toy Collection. Meninaks participate with Habijax building affordable homes in Jacksonville and compete with other civic organizations in golf and tennis tournaments to raise funds for area youth.

Beyond these civic activities, Meninak also holds events that build camaraderie and friendships that make Meninak special to its members. Events such as the Jacksonville Suns Baseball Night, the Family Holiday luncheon and the elegant President's Reception as well as special meetings at places such as: The Jacksonville Zoo, the Jacksonville Symphony, the Ritz Theatre and the Cummer Museum.
